Mac and Bloo are the stars of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Overview[]

In Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL, Mac and Bloo are starter characters who pair up together to create one character. Their in-game bio states Mac and Bloo create a formidable blend of power and range. The problem with both of that is that Mac and Bloo's knockback power is comparable to a 2/5 character and their range isn't even that impressive considering Bloo is being thrown around as a hurtbox.

Strategy[]

Pros[]

  • Great PTE that covers major vertical range

Cons[]

  • Range is terrible since Bloo is a hurtbox; No proper projectile
  • Mediocre recovery
  • Mediocre damage output
  • Mediocre speed/frame data; lackluster combos if any

Bio[]

Mac and Bloo are the stars of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. The TV series came from the imagination of cartoon icon Craig McCracken, known for creating a little show that you might recognize as The Powerpuff Girls! The series won a total of six emmy awards during its run on Cartoon Network.

In PTE, Mac and Bloo are paired up to create a formidable blend of power and range.

Bio Stats[]

  • Speed: 1/5
  • Power: 5/5
  • Air: 2/5
  • Range: 3/5

Explanation[]

These stats are provided in the game in character bios. They do not affect gameplay at all and can sometimes be misleading or need an explanation.

  • A few of Mac & Bloo's attacks are slow and laggy. 2/5 would be a better reflection for speed.
  • The power having 5/5 is a popular example of overrated stats, the developers may have thought they are powerful because Mac and Bloo's neutral signature deals 20%. However, a majority of Mac & Bloo's attacks are average at best. 2/5 would be a better reflection for power.
  • Mac and Bloo's aerial attacks are mediocre in addition to their recovery. Their side aerial can be used to cover a longer jump distance, but otherwise due to low frame data and damage Mac & Bloo's air game isn't too threatening.
  • Mac and Bloo's side signature goes a fair distance. They equip one of the largest PTE attacks in the game.

Movelist[]

Normal Attacks[]

  • Neutral: Mac punches forward with his left arm (1%), Bloo punches forward with his right arm (2%), then Mac takes Bloo's right arm and swings his body around (5%, creates 1 power cube).
  • Running: Mac and Bloo form some sort of wheel together and roll forward. Deals 5% and creates 1 power cube.
  • Up: Bloo jumps off Mac's head. Deals 9% and creates 2 power cubes.
  • Down: Mac kicks with his left leg. Deals 6% and creates 1 power cube.
  • Throw: Both Mac and Bloo reach out both arms. Deals 4% when thrown.

Knockout Attacks[]

  • Side: Mac swings Bloo forward, as Bloo "kicks" in front. Deals 14%~20% uncharged~charged. Creates 4 power cubes.
  • Up: Bloo flips Mac up into the air, harming enemies. Deals 10%~14% uncharged~charged. Creates 2 power cubes at 10%~11%, 3 power cubes at 12%~13%, and 4 power cubes at 14%.
  • Down: Mac and Bloo swing around as a true multi-hit. Deals 5%~7% uncharged~charged per hit for a total of 20%~29% if all hits land. Creates 1 power cube.

Aerial Attacks[]

  • Neutral: Mac and Bloo grab each other's hands and spin around. Deals 2% per hit.
  • Side Aerial: Mac surfs on Bloo, who is now a surfboard. The move propels the two forward and deals 6% creating 1 power cube.
  • Up Aerial: Mac uppercuts with his left arm, then Bloo uppercuts with his right arm. Each deals 4% and creates 1 power cube.
  • Down Aerial: Mac and Bloo hug each other and increase their downward velocity. Deals 9% and creates 2 power cubes.

Signature Attacks[]

Neutral: Bludoken

  • Mac throws Bloo directly in front of him as Bloo transforms into a shape similar to an energy blast. Deals 20% and creates 4 power cubes.

Side: Dodgeball

  • Mac throws Bloo forward who transforms into a ball and rolls on the ground. Afterward, Bloo comes back toward Mac still dealing damage. Deals 7% and creates 1 power cube.

Up: Rapid Punches

  • Mac and Bloo do a single spin, as they rapidly fling their paddle-balls in opposite directions. Deals 11% and creates 2 power cubes.

Down: Paddle

  • Mac and Bloo hop back and start paddle balling. Deals 13% and creates 3 power cubes.

Punch Time Explosion: Bloonan the Barbarian[]

Bloo turns into Bloo Superdude and plays his electric guitar, unleashing electrical volts that damage anyone caught in its "awesomeness." Anyone caught will be put in a massive hitlag and constantly receive 3% per hit. Total damage depends on the location of the opponent to Mac and Bloo.

This can be a powerful move due to how large the hitbox is, sometimes being the only reliable kill option for Mac and Bloo at all. Often this PTE is used after an up throw or any other situation where the opponent is above Mac and Bloo, are unable to air dodge, or are otherwise stuck. The move can also be used at the edge and block off chances of returning to the stage. However, this tactic won't work as effectively against characters who can stall in the air (Captain Planet, Hoss Delgado, Dexter, and potentially Captain K'nuckles or Aku).

Synergy: Peppermint Larry[]

Peppermint Larry gives Mac and Bloo candy, which causes Mac to go hyper. During this synergy state, Mac and Bloo can walk around freely and damage anyone in contact for 15% (creates 4 power cubes).
